First 10 Pages!!! :D

After all the prep work I've done for my project, I just sat down and pumped out the first ten pages of my first draft! :D It might not be celebratory for some, but I'm friggin' pumped and thought I'd share my enthusiasm with you all. Also wanted to ask everyone out there: What was it like writing "your" first ten pages?

Cherie Grant

It's greta when you pump out a good few pages in one sitting. I did 15 a couple weeks ago. Have slowed down to one or two a day, but i am nearing my 90 page mark. Just three pages left. God it does feel good.

Kerry Douglas Dye

That's never been a milestone for me, but I certainly know the satisfaction of reaching a personal milestone, whatever it may be. So, congratulations on being pumped!

made my ninety page mark. still got to delete a couple and add a couple so it'll stick to about that page number. i feel really happy. i'm not a prolific writer, but i do work hard on my projects. brain all foggy now so need to stop writing and mentally unwind. start up again tomorrow morning with mind fresh.

My first 10 pages were the longest, drawn out tale of unnecessary everything imaginable. My first screenplay was about 208 pgs. long. Guess I should've done a lot of research on acceptable length. LOL But, then I've learned a lot more. My finished draft is 109 pgs. and I think my first 10 pgs are damned good. I've just gotten helpful coverage, so I'll be re-doing the first 10 pgs to bring my protagonist to life a lot sooner than page 10. Don't make my mistakes. Make sure your first 10 pgs isn't just filler for the rest of the story. Make it hot enough to draw the reader in. Bring some of the gutz of your story out early, then have your reader hunt for, but be able to easily find the rest. Best of luck John!
