Hey! I forgot to intro myself. My name is Rebecca.. Call me Becky.. I'm a writer . My new book will be on bookshelves momentarily.. I'm always looking for a publicist...
Can't believe I'm the first one to say hi, Rebecca! How big is your book? What is it about? And what are your favorite authors? Me, I love postmodern authors like Don De Lillo and Roth or Pynchon. Welcome to Stage 32!
Hi Becky. It was only because I saw your name here that I plucked up the nerve to introduce myself. Writers seem to be thin on the ground in the midst of these skilled, artistic and talented individuals.
Thanks for the lovely comments.. I'm a syndicated columnist.. I write on trending topics of national security, politics and human rights... My work is featured in publications as the nationofchange.org, Baltimore Post Examiner, AP, NPR, The LA Times etc....My new book is called Escape Artiste.... Here is the synopsis: Literature, as Shakespeare said, “defies time as rocks defy the sea.” Escape Artiste tells a timeless, oft-repeated story of individual survival and self-discovery, as it tracks Rebecca Theodore’s personal journey from ideological slavery to freedom. It is a passage Theodore paid for with her own deep longings and aspirations. The book opens in a packed Toronto, Canada courtroom and then retraces Theodore’s journey all the way back to her primal roots in Bense Village. It addresses themes of sexism, ideology, homophobia, child and domestic abuse and challenges her Adventist church’s doctrines, including its belief in a strict, demanding path to immortality beyond the grave. Perhaps God, despite all the evidence, is in love with deliverance. A successful life is a series of escapes, thus ‘Escape Artiste’ registers itself as an integral part of a continuum of escapes occurring in succession, leading from the past to the present to the future. In the same way that all human societies perpetuate beliefs that maintain the status quo, ‘Escape Artiste’ examines the power of cultural scripts that set norms in our lives and cause us to repeat the same multi-generational dramas. The book describes how Theodore broke out from the ‘herd mentality’ of her youth in order to define her own cultural script and find her own place in the world. The thorns of deception sting hardest where the wind blows. Feel the sting as Theodore takes you, breath by breath, through each step in her remarkable journey.
Impressive cv, Becky, and equally impressive synopsis. I am now experiencing one inclination and one inclination only...to find stage left and to exit unseen, unheralded and unmourned.
