Turning the page...

Hello everyone… I was told about Stage 32 from Film Producer Anne O'Shea. She knows how passionate I am about story telling and thought this might be a good start for me. You see, although I've been in the entertainment business nearly 40 years, it's only recently I've discovered a whole new world…The World of sobriety…Now, the creativity is bursting out of me and I have stories I want to tell…My first is a story on a subject that is very important to me…Sexual Abuse…I have a sister, I have a mother, I have w female companion who has a daughter and I love them all very much. I was asked "Why a man?" I feel it's time MEN got in to the fight WITH the women instead of standing on the sidelines. I know men are raped too, I get it…But women are at a much higher percentage and that 60% of female assault isn't reported because of fear or lack of trust in the legal system is appalling. Sorry, I've already gone on longer that I should…However, I'm looking to shoot a trailer of the film. Any advice on funding a trailer?

Hi J.R.! I applaud you for your sobriety, my friend.. There is no greater addiction than to generate your own world of revolving images, through the power of the moving image.. Welcome to Stage 32.. After reading your post a couple times, I am under the assumption that you are gearing toward a feature film... Securing a budget to shoot a trailer for a feature film is about as hard as it is to secure a budget for the feature film itself.. My advice to you J.R., would be to write your script as a short film, pitch it as a short film, get as many people on board with your project as you can for "FREE", and create an incredibly compelling short film.. You are dealing with subject matter that is going to resonate with ALOT of people, and rather than string together a full-length feature that could take several weeks, even a few years, I would focus ALL my efforts on shooting this as a short film, push it out into the marketplace through festivals, private screenings, online, and you will be amazed at how many people will flock to your site to pay $5, $7, even $10 to get their hands on your film, simply because they themselves, or someone they know has been a victim of sexual abuse.. This comment is NOT intended in anyway to deter you from chasing after your dream, but to give you a more DYNAMIC avenue to run with your gem.. Best of luck J.R. I hope this helps..
