Starting a Writers Group - Advice? (NJ/Philly)

Hello, I had a very strong screenwriters group in grad school. But now that I'm home I'm having a tough time finding experienced writers to work with. Does anyone have any advice on how to find experienced writers willing to meet and bounce ideas off each other? Thanks in advance!

Bill Hartin

It's a haul from Trenton to Easton, PA but you are always welcome to join FIFO's group of filmmaking creatives, including our robust group of screenwriters who meet monthly and share their work inn between.

Hi Scott, there are some meetups groups where you can participate on- and off- line, for example: www.meetup.com/Cambridge-Screenwriters http://www.meetup.com/The-Scriptwriters-Network/ Regards, Jacklyn http://rbjal.com/

Scott, also, perhaps take a look through the Meetups section found in the upper menu bar. If you don't see a meetup being held in your area, perhaps organize one yourself. It's a great way to meet other writers. :)

I'm in two groups and neither one is local. We have members around the globe and we bounce simple ideas via email and review each others scripts via skype. I've only met one member face to face because he lives in my city but I know everyone else as though I had met them.

If you are trying to find writers groups in the Philly area there are a lot i'm actually part of one that's free and we meetup at Fergies Pub in CC here in Philly no cost its free.

Hi Scott, just to add, you could also utilize the Connect feature and search our membership by location/occupation, reach out to specific people in your area. Of course you always have us, the Stage 32 community, to answers questions and offer encouragement. Best to you! :)
