Hey There, I'm a hired gun writer who also has some personal passion film projects in the works. One of them is a sci-fi tale of suspense (I agree, sci fi rules). Last year it won a slot in the inaugural Writers Lab for Women, funded by Meryl Streep. I penned and produced a short version of a feature that's a dark-edged romantic comedy, which is screening at the Pasadena Intl. Film Festival on March 6th. So if any of you L.A. folks are around the festival, I do hope you'll drop by and say hi. The short is called THE BEAUTY OF DISASTER (as is the feature).

Janet: For years I have toyed with an idea of a sci-fi / fantasy based on my experience. I am a technical writer/editor by day, screenplay, historical fiction author "by non-day", BUT... I am also a near-death experiencer (1972, Cape Town, [apartheid] South Africa.) Could there be a need, use, whatever in movies, sci-fi, for a non-religious type like myself, who has been into death consciousness... and returned?
