I'm hoping I'm in the "write" area. We have a web series thinking of converting to a Feature -we are reviewing positives and negatives. Anyway we are in need of a new writer to pick up the story. This is not a job offer not at that point. The question is are there different skill/knowledge requirements for a writer for a web series vs a feature film. I was thinking yes, that web was more like tv and needed different skills than a feature. I welcome feedback; Please enlighten me.

With the web series it can be treated like a TV show. Unlike a web series where you have a constant on going story, features usually have a beginning, middle, and end...that's it. So if you do the web series into film, make sure you have that kind of structure for it. Also, ask yourself "Is the web series going to continue after this is made or no?" Because if so, you can make the feature a special-presentation of the web series. If the series is ending, then use the feature to end the series. That's my advice for you. Hope you have a good sense of you want by the time you start with our feedback. Wishing you great success with this.

Sorry for the vastly reductive reply. If I were producing a web series, and IF I were concerned about getting views, then I'd want a team that is very familiar with YouTube's best practices including viewership strategy, channel management strategy, when and how often to release new content, etc. (You can Google YouTube best practices. YouTube had published a very extensive guidebook, but I'm not sure if it's still online.) Maybe one member of your team also gets YouTube Certified. If you're not concerned about getting views, then it really doesn't matter. If I were producing a feature film, then I wouldn't need a team who is familiar with YouTube best practices.
Thank you; I appreciate the feedback!
