Hello everyone! I'm currently concluding my MA in Digital film and TV Production at the University of York, by directing and producing a short film that I've written. I actually just finished shooting the film two days ago, and it's safe to say it's been the most enriching and exhilarating experience in my life. I know I'm running the risk of boring you here, but here is a bit about myself: I come from a journalistic background, having worked as a Cairo-based reporter and producer covering Middle East affairs for major broadcasters like NPR, Financial Times and CBC. I thought of venturing into video as it seemed to be the medium winning over radio and print. Coming here to work on this degree though changed my outlook entirely. I fell in love with script development and directing. I can no longer imagine myself doing anything else. Now, as I finish my degree next month with this film, I don't know where to start. There it is. Your good old struggling film student post! Now, let me tell you a bit more about my film. My short film is called 'Sempre' - it's an Italian word that's used as a musical direction meaning "always" or "throughout". Synopsis: What would happen if one day you get struck by a lightning bolt, you wake up from your coma to find that the traumatic injury you sustained in one part of the brain has unlocked hidden talents in another part? Do you remain the same person, or does the new re-wiring of your brain alter you to a person you’ve never known before? 'Sempre' is a short film dramatizing a case of Acquired Savant Syndrome, in which a mild-mannered, middle-aged businessman transforms into an obsessive musical genius.
