I'm currently concluding my MA in Digital Film and TV Production at the University of York with a short film that I have written and will be directing. Prior to my filmmaking endeavors, I worked as a Cairo-based journalist covering Middle East news for a number of international radio, print and television outlets.
Sempre
Direction THE FILM: 'SEMPRE':
My short film is called 'Sempre' - it's an Italian word that's used as a musical direction meaning "always" or "throughout".
What would happen if one day you get struck by a lightning bolt, you wake up from your coma to find that the traumatic injury you sustained in one part of the brain has unlocked hidden talents in another part? Do you remain the same person, or does the new re-wiring of your brain alter you to a person you’ve never known before? 'Sempre' is a short film dramatizing a case of Acquired Savant Syndrome, in which a mild-mannered, middle-aged businessman transforms into an obsessive musical genius.
