Relieved to NOT get the part

Hi all, So this will sound like a stupid question, but has anyone ever been relieved to not get the part they auditioned for?

Isaac Middleton

No, I can't say that I have... was the part that bad or what?

Denise Carole

Yes! There have been several times when I auditioned that they didn't have it together, one where the team was arguing about the script right in front of me during the audition! Others have included getting a skeevy vibe from the director, or a terrible script. If you're relieved, that's generally your intuition telling you that you dodged a bullet! IMHO...

Tony Fisher

Yes, sometimes it isn't even that the part is bad but the team putting it together is not up to it.

Jennifer Claire

Yes, I was offered the lead in a short film recently but from the moment I entered the audition room the vibe felt wrong. I was then unpleasantly surprised by some information about the very first scene that was not highlighted at all in the breakdown. However, I said I would read the script and when I did I got very weird shivers (negative ones) so I decided to follow my feelings and just turn it down. I was definitely relieved to not have to prepare for and go through with the role!!
