Introduce Yourself : I wonder if I can do that by David Chase

I wonder if I can do that

That's a question I often ask myself. Years ago, I was offered an opportunity to write a weekly newspaper column. I knew nothing about writing a column but the editor of the newspaper thought I could so I tried it. Turns out I could and I did - for about 8 years. Then a friend, an English professor at Wellesey College said I should try writing a play. I ignored the suggestion for at least 10 years and then I wrote a play which was then produced and a considerable success. Not beyond Vermont, you understand, but it was done. And I always wondered if I could write a novel. I'd had ideas floating around for a long time and when I won a one month residency at the Millay Colony for the Arts, I spent the month teaching myself to write long and those 25 pages were the beginnings of what eventually became Grants Ferry. This afternoon I wondered if I could make pretzels. Turns out I can but they're pretty misshapen.. Taste great, though. So I can tick that box. What's next? Well, I wonder if I can write a screenplay...

What's next? I think you should continue improving your existing crafts... like making those pretzels perfect. :D Oh yeah, I think screenwriting would work too. :) We do have a lot of webinars on screenwriting if you care to check it out: https://www.stage32.com/webinars/tag/screenwriting Maybe they'll help.
