I live in the Dallas area. Over the course of my career I've been a newspaper reporter, a weekly newspaper editor, a television anchor , a magazine publisher, and a freelance TV script writer. I've also done some background acting and a few years back completed with a colleague a music comedy for the stage. I'm now turning the musical comedy for the stage into a non-musical screenplay. It seems no one is interested in producing a new musical comedy which seems a shame since I've had two university theatre professors and the manager director of a major venue in the Dallas area tell me it has commercial potential. Oh yeah, I've also produced a documentary which I'm currently marketing under my own shingle, Gene Lenore Productions. Now if I could only find a way to make all of this experience pay off. I'm open to suggestions.

Hi Gene! Welcome to the site!
Welcome, Gene! Great to have you with us. Here's a few thoughts. Take what you like, disregard the rest.... Here's what I'm doing in Denver and how 'I' would make your experience pay off. You're in Dallas with a super huge pool of talent. Take over your city in your area of expertise. Have a S32 Meetup with your Network AND your Local Facebook Fimmaking Groups. You only need a few good local peeps to get projects done. Make your team, regardless how small, the tightest in Dallas. We're only as strong as our network. Talent attracts talent. Be the Magnet Man! Hope this helps. Contact me for more intel. Always here for U!

Hey Gene. Here's hoping more people, besides the two of us, still dig musical comedy. For my money they're the best of both worlds. All the best to you and your creative endeavors.

Welcome to the community, Gene! I'd suggest getting your script in some writing contests to get it noticed by producers and managers. As for your doc, get it submitted in doc focused festivals, a lot of possibilities there for distribution and so forth. Best of luck!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Welcome!
