I'm a native Texan who spent most of my career in television news. After leaving TV news behind, I created a video production company now operating as Gene Lenore Productions, headquartered in the Dallas suburb of Garland. I'm a Telly Award winner for one of my video productions. Back in 2014, I wrote , directed and released under by own label a documentary film, "Denison Dam - Taming the Raging Red". As a freelance scriptwriter, I've written/co-written five documentaries for the Smithsonian Channel. Additionally, my freelance writing has included a number for articles for a Texas-based magazine.
I'm also a playwright. Several years ago working I penned along with a composer friend of mine a musical comedy for the stage. The theatre department of Grayson College did the play as a staged production that was well received by the audience. Although,, I've been told by several sources, the play has commercial potential, I've yet to find a theatre company that will stage the production. In another development, I've now created a non-musical screenplay based on the same story. The script is in the hands of a director in Hollywood who indicates she really, really likes the screenplay and has sent it to a Texas based film producer to see if there is interest there.
I'm currently considering which creative project I'll take on next - another stage play, another screenplay or something else entirely different, maybe a book of some sort.
