Stage 32 Fantasy & Sci Fi Screenwriting Contest quarterfinals

It's premature to call this a success story, but ...

I'm on the list! :D Winnie Khaw Dream Rehearsal

I was driving when I saw the notification email, and during a slowdown I thought I might as well get depressed about not placing right then and afterward try to move on with my day. When I saw my name and script there, I almost pressed the gas pedal by accident, on a freeway that had turned into a virtual parking lot.

Earlier last week that script had been rejected by two minor contests, so I was feeling pretty glum about my prospects.

I did arrive home without mishap. Go me! XD

Jeff Langham

Congrats Winnie! Take all the positive you can because there's plenty of rejection out there for us. I've had the same thing happen to me. On one contest, I hadn't heard anything so I checked the site. As I went through the Quarters, then Semis I saw my name each time. Then check the Finalist (top 25 of TV Drama) and sure enough, I was there. Strange the way I found out, but still happy about it.

I know contests don't always get you anywhere, but writers do like some acknowledgement that their work is appreciated. By the time you get into the semi and finals of contests, the judges are usually people who have seen a decent script or two.

Good luck with placing further in the contest!

Anthony Moore

Congratulations. My script, "Stellar Drift" is also a finalist. NEVER be depressed about your writing. Every reader is looking for something different. Just because one or more contests don't choose your work, doesn't mean it's bad. As long as you put your heart and soul into your work to make it the best it can be, you're already a winner.

James Drago

Congratulations to you all. Good luck with the next round.
