Honestly in my experience - it makes little difference outside of the stunt world. For film most of it is blocked for the camera, for theatre they usually teach you things anyhow. And buy in large SAFD is barely even mentioned.
For stage, if you're in the right place and have the right profile to audition for a bunch of Shakespeare summer stock, for example, and you have the right qualities to play Tybalt, then yes find out what kind of sword play you need to learn to book the part. It depends on what kinds of stage opportunities you're finding and if the theatres you're getting called in to are producing plays that require stage combat training.
It's the most common thing in the acting industry so I'd say you definitely should! The more you have experience in the better your chances of playing multiple roles
