Hello, i wrote a story for a couple with the ideal of it being produced into a TV-Series, which resulted in twenty-five pages so far. Upon research about other screenplays i obtained an understanding that a screenplay needs to be in dialogue form, not like a story for a book. So my question is can my story still be sent in to someone or do i need to restart from scratch? Thank you, J. Boucher
Not sure what exactly you mean. But, you can't take a story and just send it in, it has to follow proper format for a screenplay. Most definitely you can make a story or novel into a screenplay to market.
Jonathan:
i.) As Izzibella correctly states (above) the screenplay needs to be in a proper format
ii.) Before attempting a screenplay hone in on your fiction or technical writing skills
iii.) Read Richard Walter's: Essentials of Screenwriting & Linda Seger's: Making a Good Script Greativ.) Then review Final Draft formatting screenplay software (FinalDraft.com) Word of mouth, for me, and as far as I understand it, it is the industry standard. I use Vers. 10.
v.) FINALLY: Find a good script doctor. (A friend of mine is a pretty decent script doctor).
That's the craft of adapting the story into a screenplay. I wish there was a book on adaptation that I could recommend on how to do this but I couldn't find any. I found articles from writing magazines on how to do this instead. Then I worked on adapting my own stories into screenplays.
