Or in other words: Well, crap.
So I just got an email from amazon studios saying that they're shutting down they're open call for scripts. :( It makes me feel sad because I wish I had struck while the iron was hot, when I first learned of them back in 2011 and sent in my script then and maybe I would've gotten something produced by now, or at least gotten compensated for it. Back when Amazon was in the business of discovering undiscovered writers. That's not to say that I never submitted anything, I finally did submit something last year and it was rejected but I can't help but feel like if I had submitted my script and struck while the iron was hot, I'd have gotten a lot farther, career-wise, by now.I was just so paralyzed by the fear of rejection at the time. I take it personally, and I know you're not supposed to but it happens, that's just who I am.
Sigh. Anyway... just a little vent to get things out of my system. I know I'm not the only one affected by this, I'm sorry that some of you guys won't get the chance to submit your ideas either. This was the only place that accepted open submissions and now that's been closed off to us. :( I hope some other studio picks up the slack. Sigh. Some of us unknowns would like a format like that. Oh well.

There were a few, in the beginning, that optioned and sold. From my understanding they have around 150,000 projects in their database.

Dan MaxXx I never said they were a Mom and Pop shop or in the 'business' of discovering undiscovered writers, but I did like their open door policy and the fact that they would accept un-agented submissions because there are so many talented writers that don't have representation and don't know or have access to those channels in order to get their projects done. That was all.

Wayne Taylor Yeah, in the very beginning there were some un-agented writers that sold their projects to amazon for a pretty penny and I had hoped they would keep their open door policy just to get more creative content in there. Oh well.
