Growing up in Chicago, Mark got the film bug when his father introduced him to "Lawrence of Arabia", “The Great Escape”, "The Man Who Would Be King", and "Rear Window". Soon after, he went to LA for the first time, bought Syd field’s book on screenwriting, snuck onto the Fox lot, and pitched story ideas to "Mash". Proudly, he still has the rejection letter.
In Chicago, he worked as an apprentice editor on commercials for a Cleo-winning film editor. I learned to cut film on a Moviola and Kem. "If you have only cut digital, you’ve missed out on something special".
At 20, he moved to LA. working as a special effects artist on “Spaceballs” and others. This soon followed with a production role at Hanna Barbara, HBO, Hallmark, and CBS. The credits continued as I worked in film and television for 15 years.
Since, Mark had left the film production to raise his daughter as single parent, fought cancer, obtained a doctorate in clinical psychology, and became an established artist & painter. He came out the other side ready to write. "Finally, I have something to write about."
