Love this, Judy. Great lyrics & a really moving video.. I think if we can focus on things that most people care about--educating children, taking care of the elderly & each other, a fair & equal legal system, the right to vote, etc.--then the divisions will become way less important. That's my hope, anyway. Thanks for posting this.

Hi, Willem, and Pamela. I was away for a few days, and I can't figure out how to answer you directly -- how to respond to what you wrote, right after your posts, above. So, I'm reduced to posting here, below. Willem, my editor and I talked about this stuff a lot. He makes a lot of videos and he is confident that everything we did falls under the Fair Use Doctrine -- grabs of images for a few seconds only, and no intention on my part to make money off of them. Sill, I did browse around Wikimedia commons and I paid to join a free image site to get a lot of the images in the "Marsha's Addiction" video. As for the Indivisible video, I talked to local Tennessee leaders of Indivisible, and to two national leaders/founders of the movement, Ezra Klein and Leah Greenberg, when they came to Tennessee. They thought the video was a good idea and more or less gave it their blessing, in advance. If you are making films that you hope to distribute for money -- in that case, using material shot by other people may get trickier, especially if you linger on the footage or the images. As for my goals, I have some political screenplays and some that are not. I have some feature films that I wrote because I was concerned about something or I wanted to, as Orwell says many fiction writers want to, nudge the world a little bit in one direction or another. Pamela, would you forbid Oliver Stone from posting here, if he made a political film? Or Michael Moore? Or someone not as famous as they are but who makes those kinds of films? It seems to me that creativity takes many forms, and people should not be forbidden from sharing work with a political aspect to it with this community, and reaching others who might respond to it -- not everybody is going to respond to every kind of project. As these videos I've made demonstrate, I lean left, and while I write some songs and screenplays that don't involve that in any way, I have feature-length screenplays with strong female protagonists, and ones with African-American protagonists, and ones that deal with families sliding from the middle class into homelessness, and one about gay rights and the rights of senior citizens with George Takei attached -- and if there are directors or producers who'd like to collaborate on such projects -- or who need political songs for their projects -- I'd love to hear from you.

So, Marsha Blackburn is in Congress and running for the Senate. So she's being paid and controlled by those who govern her party. If she, or anyone, is truly concerned about their country and where those who benefit from drugging our kids into oblivion, our people into homelessness and poverty, they wouldn't be part of a party requiring them to enter into back-room deals which lead to this. I don't know for whom Marsha is standing but in Australia we had many actors support one party or another. Think they may have regretted it afterwards but so be it. I am the longest standing INDEPENDENT female candidate in this country and the first to establish a political party. I've stood for the SENATE. I am led by GOD. I've refused to join the 'boys' club of opportunity'. I didn't get in. I don't do deals to benefit me. You can't join them and expect you'll be able to fight against them. You may wish to use a degree of caution. Marsha is probably a wonderful person. Wonderful people are used for evil to prosper. If they used the devil or a monster you probably wouldn't support them. That is why they use the charismatic people they do. Our country has deteriorated from "the Lucky Country... Land of Golden Opportunity" to jobless, homelessness, poverty stricken, drug-affected, camera-recorded individuals. But at least when my grandchildren as "what happened?" my children can tell them how hard and at what cost, I fought them.

C'mon, guys... it's just a video. Hey, Judy! I'm a former copywriter for Power 92FM in Richmond, Va. I've done this kind of project and I'm assuming radio play is the ultimate goal. If I'm wrong, I apologize and you can stop reading... I watched the vid and had to go back to your post to figure out what your goals are because your project is generic. It could be for any candidate. There's no specificity. Secondly, it's too long and it's not hook heavy. In this type of forum you want a hook everyone remembers after hearing one time. A typical one minute spot at Power: Hook, very specific verse, and hook again. That's it. This type of copy should sound more like a radio morning show jingle. Don't think song - think commercial. Hope this helps. Take what you like, Discard the rest.

Hey, Judy! I was creating jingles for two of my projects and I thought about you. The first 60 second jingle is the closing song for a doc. The second 60 spot is the opening and closing theme for a short I'm shooting. You'll notice the structure is diff from regular songs. If you check out the DREAMHOUSE theme, it follows the exact melody from an old show called THREES COMPANY. Dreamhouse is very much like 3c with only 3 characters. A landlord who has a dj and cam models as tenants. I went to the 3C theme on youtube for ideas. Wound up jacking entire melody. Hope this helps. Any questions
