Crowdfunding

I have completed a short film script and I sent it to a scriptwriting contest and it was a semi-finalist in the contest. I already have hired the crew to film it, but I don't have the funding. My question is: What are the best crowdfunding websites to get funding? And what questions should be asked to get the funding? I would like to get this film made sometime in 2019.

I've been examining a site called Seed&Spark for my own crowd funding efforts, so far it looks very promising. They have an education section that explains the process before actually launching, I found it very informative and enlightening. They also boast an 80% success rate compared to others like Kickstarter and Indiegogo.

For film, it's between Kickstarter and Seed & Spark, depending on how much you're looking to raise. Though I wouldn't put too much stake on the "80% success rate." It's that high simply because there are substantially less campaigns on S&S as there are KS and IGG. However, it does mean that S&S curates their stuff a lot better than the larger sites, and it's specifically for film, which means you'll have a bit more of a natural audience to pool from, so long as you get the first 30% from family and friends. (That's where all crowdfunding campaigns start.)

There is no quick fix or "silver bullet" to raising funds. Read Richard "RB" Botto 's book, "Crowdsourcing for Filmmakers" and you'll have a better grasp on what you need to do. Believe me, efficient & creative crowdSOURCING will help your crowFUNDING efforts. For pitching, I recommend Stephanie Palmer's book, "Good in a Room". Bon chance!!

For a short you best bet is to work as many angles as you can to use what you have and source what you can for no costs. It sparks creativity. Biggest cost would be food for cast/crew. Best of luck!
