Keep pushing.

Bill Costantini

You have to really admire artists. Artists know the path to commercial success is greatly stacked against them, but they do what they do, because they love what they do. Yes, determination, perseverance, skill, knowing the markets, etc., all are factors in determining success, but first and foremost, they love what they do.

I love art, and love artists who love what they do. To be inspired enough to try and create art is a blessed circumstance. May the heavens continue to bless the passionate artist.

So true!

Great post, Bill, and, I might add, inspiring. And by no means am I trying to throw sand on the fire, but it must be pointed out that not all artists have the same motivation. As someone who has sat at the head of this initiative for 7 years and someone who has a relatively large following on other social platforms, I can tell you I've received thousands of messages (DM's, emails, tweets, etc) and spoken to hundreds more in person who are in it for all the wrong reasons. Fame and money are certainly two I hear about daily, if not hourly at times.

So I would say that artists who remain pure to why they decided to pursue their path, they're the ones to be admired. And this is why I made my original post. To share the thoughts of someone who never allowed themselves to be beaten down to the point of quitting. Someone who understood that recognition and potential financial comfort would be a result of all the hard work, not something that should drive the work. Someone that understood that there are no shortcuts. Someone who understood the power of relationships. (I didn't mention in my OP that her script was passed to the lead producer on the project through a mutual friend and a champion of her work - a relationship she built over 6 years.)

There is no easy path. It's a thorny road. Hard lessons will be learned. Those who accept, intake, parse, digest, and grow while never losing sight of why they took the first step of the journey to begin with, those are the ones to be admired.

Appreciated, Pat!

I completely agree Richard. I’ve been working on a screenplay for a few years and although I still don’t have a finished product, it’s been fun working on it. I’m hopeful that one day I will be able to finalize it, get it into the right hands, and watch it on the big screen. That’s my goal. :)

Right on Richard! Sorry if my age is showing.

Richard "RB" Botto your words inspire me daily. I look to things like these for motivation being a new comer to the screenwriting industry. It's scary, and at times filled with doubt hearing about all of the difficulties. But you never cease to inspire, and I really admire that. I'm going to keep focusing cause I'm passionate about it, and I know just like her, my hard work will pay off. I just want to do something I love and use it to inspire and help others attain something they love as well. If anyway I can help paying it forward and aiding the movement just let me know. I'm here not only for self, but to inspire other creatives.
