I love Doris and Clark Gable in the 1959 comedy teacher's pet. Doris was brilliant in the movie and it's a quintessential New York comedy from that time.
One of my favorites but I thought Calamity Jane was one of her best. Trouble is mention Doris Day or other greats to today's Generation and you get a blank stare! Sad really.
Phillip E. Hardy, "The Real Deal" Also a big fan of the May-December romancer "Teacher's Pet," which also provided commentary on journalistic integrity. Good role for Gig Young as well.
Sadly like many of the greats they are becoming few. At 54 I see the new stars rise but growing up with John Wayne and the likes they never fade from fond memories.
Tony: My favorite Gig Young part. It's a wonderful example of a supporting role being so brilliantly written and realized. The stuff with Clark and gig in Dr. Pine's apartment is perfection.
Yeah, Young being cured of Gable's hangover by design. Very funny.
I like Young as the adulterous father of the bride in "Lovers and Other Strangers" but particularly his Academy Award winning turn as the unctuous emcee in "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?"
REMEMBERS DORIS DAY... yes what a beautiful soul!! Watched always along with so many other grand actresses and actors of those days... what tremendous shows that you can never get enough of!! THE FLYING NUN... I LOVE LUCY.. yeah way too many to mention right?!!

A huge loss not only to the entertainment industry but more so to animal welfare :(

Stephen Atkinson TRUE! She lived a long, productive life. Her movies are classics and I watched her TV show, growing up with my grandparents.
Stephen:
I grew up on Calamity Jane. Watched it many times before I was 12 years old.

"Que Sera Sera." So distant now. (And no Auto-Tune; just a mike and her voice.)
