Box Office, public opinion, critics vs Actors opinion

If during the promotion (interviews and so on) of the movie you acted in, as a lead or a major character, you praise the flick, the director and everyone who worked on it but the movie crashes at the box office, the public opinion brings it down as well as the critics. Do you regret afterwards acted in it? Or do you still stand behind the movie, the director and the team as a professional courtesy or simply because you liked it, as you know movies and art in general is a point of view.

Beth Fox Heisinger

Also, don’t burn bridges. Be professional. Every major studio, production company, director, actor, etc, etc, etc, has a dud or worked on a dud. Everyone has at least one project that didn’t do well. But... their next project could be a major hit. You never know. ;)

Well i am not actor and i was wondering what, you actors, think about that topic. Several times i heard actors spit venom about the director and a movie they acted in years ago but when they were promoting the movie they were praising it (which is totally logical to bring audience to see it and regarding contract obligations).

Richard "RB" Botto

Don't live with regret. You took the role for a reason. Learn from the experience, take away positives, move on. There are a million factors that can determine a failure from editing to marketing to beyond. If you want to worry about all of them, become a producer. Otherwise, go act!

Sylvia Marie Llewellyn

Right on, RB. As Beth states "Don't burn bridges.

Donn Swaby

Definitely stand behind it if I loved my work and the film. I do not care how much money it made.
