I just picked up a copy of Judgement at Nuremberg and was explaining to my wife that director Stanley Kramer had a gift for “message movies,” which were super preachy but super good. What examples come to mind when you guys think of movies that shout a moral message just loud enough?
i'd say if it's true - then change the names of people, change genders if you have to - then it's based on true events, but not open to people freaking out if they recognisze themselves and become offended
I saw that movie a few years back. That's one of these Ahead of Its Time movies. I had a feeling I'm watching a modern day courtroom drama filmed in black and white mode.

I love this question.
A few of my favorites: Paths of Glory, 12 Angry Men, Gentleman's Agreement, Friendly Persuasion, Inherit the Wind (Kramer again)... Can't be a coincidence that all these movies were made in the era right after WWII.

Whitney L I agree, Spike Lee is probably the best ever, to do that. At least one of the bests that has done it more times than most.
