There for what are the movies that everyone in the movie industry must watch? Do you have some advise on how to extract as much information about this movies as possible so that we become better? I think it depends on the specific conversation. Citizen Kane for certain aspects of noir film and of course acting technique which was in transition at the time. But then there are other aesthetics and other genres. The Seven Samurai by Kurosawa. Ran, by Kurosawa. Ghost In The Shell (1995) by Oshii and Ito. Bladerunner. Rebel Without a Cause. Mutiny On The Bounty (1962). All for different reasons, and there are many, many more.

There are many in all sorts of genre. You can spend the rest of your live watching other people's movies... or you could spend your time writing/making your own - a hands on learning process.
I'm not sure it "HAS" to be seen, but when I taught IB Film last year, I was introduced to a few other films that were fantastic, specifically foreign films. Bicycle Theives (1948), The Conformist (1970), and La Haine (1995). It really depends on the kind of film you're interested in. Any Spike Lee Joint is also totally worth your time - Do the Right Thing, Inside Man, BlackKKlansman.
