How are all of you doing with all this madness? I worry about a lot of you who are living with the uncertainty of the times and the struggles you are going through now. I've had a lot of anxiety regarding the lack of cohesive leadership in the White House of late. With that said, I have had many sleepless nights. But when I heard Obama speak (with my mom) last Wednesday night... I watched, I listened and I felt like I could breathe again for a few minutes. Then at the end... I bust into tears. My mom said, "whats wrong honey?" I said, I feel hope again. My mom said, "me too".
As a Gay & Jewish man who's father lived thru the Holocaust, I learned to be sensitive to others who didn't have the same advantages I grew up with. To know that the best thing you can do is shut up and listen sometimes. To let your black & brown, brothers & sisters know that you hear them and you see them (thank you Oprah). And when you are lucky enough to go up in the elevator of success, take people with you! These are the things that I practice in my life on daily basis. I am grateful to my parents for giving me these values.
