Introduce Yourself : Process by Edward Morrisseey

Process

I am a combat vet and 21 years ago I was disabled at the age of 52. Part of the therapy was writing and I started writing. I have written a few screenplays and lots of other stuff. I showed the screenplays to a few friends in the movie business and they liked two of them; a lot One of them is absolutely true, from the combat scenes to the geo political implications sometimes called Nixon's secret plan. Yes it did exist, and of course I saw it unfold in real life. in 1968 and 1969, The story has a lot of emotional triggers for me so I tend to leave it alone because of the PTSD. There are two producers that want those screenplays but both start talking about the story's and I shat down interest. Then I start six months later thinking about it.

I need someone else, to negotiate the deals with the producers. The producer I would prefer to use has won an Oscar and he is a friend however that actually makes it harder to discuss the possibilities. PTSD is a nasty business. I have been a business man all my life until I was disabled in 2002. I do not want to try and sell these projects because of my PTSD. I need to get some ideas about how to market the war movie. There are things in it that were classified but were de classified 8 or ten years ago so now I do hot have a n excuse to not pursue it.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions.

Hey, Edward Morrisseey! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage 32. If you'd like to learn more about myself and the Stage32 Team, we have an intro blog: https://www.stage32.com/blog/Meet-the-Stage-32-Team Nice to meet you and welcome to the community!

Man, that's some powerful stuff! Good for you for pursuing content based on declassified material! I know it's not the only example, but I loved ARGO, based on a declassified mission. Where are you in the process? Are you still revising the script or are you packaging it now? Definitely reach out to our Director of Script Services, Jason Mirch, who is excellent at matching projects with potential executives (or managers, in your case): J.Mirch@stage32.com

I’m sure you’ve already discovered the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but I think you could benefit from networking in the Producing Lounge as well! Lots of producers know how to package and sell scripts: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/producing

Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my intro blog post on how to engage with the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect! And, of course, feel free to reach out at any time. Cheers!

I wonder if you might find an entertainment attorney who could handle the negotiations to keep you out of that side of it. It sounds like you have some wonderful stories to tell! I love the true crime and espionage genres so if you've got a compelling angle on 20th century events, that's really promising.
