Favorite Action Film Director at the 5 million level?

If you could pick an action director at the low budget level - who would you choose for a western action film? Please post your favorites!

Shadow Dragu-Mihai, Esq., Ipg

That's a hard question... Does anyone actually know the budgets of past westerns?

Dan MaxXx

Gareth Evans. He wrote and directed The Raid for about $1M U.S. dollars. But my guess he wants some perks$$$ now that he is a big deal.

Check out A24 prod company - they have a roster of directors and their films are about $5M or less.

Bobby Peterson

S. Craig Zahler did a pretty good job with Bone Tomahawk (2015). It had a budget of $1.8 million and a respectable cast.

Rutger Oosterhoff

The film you probably had in mind; Once Upon a Time in the West.

But only for Budget:$1,250,000 (estimated) , Westworld (1973)

Thank you for the input! Shadow Dragu-Mihai, Esq., Ipg - I like this website for older budget numbers, https://www.the-numbers.com/movie/budgets/all - though, I find it hard to find "real" numbers from studios! Thank you Dan MaxXx for the heads up on A24! Ooh, a bit gory but a great plumb line when it comes to cast @BobbyPeterson. Thank you for the input! @RutgerOosterhoff - I haven't seen Once Upon a Time in the West in so long! Re-watching this week. Thanks again for sharing your opinions!

Jose Eduardo Penedo

I would love to see an Edgar Wright western! He did Shaun of the Dead for 6 million and Hot Fuzz for 12, so he's got experience at working with lower budgets!
