Hi everyone, I'm a small time producer/writer with a handful of award winning short films under my belt. I currently have a pilot for a TV series written and I'm wondering how do you get beyond the red tape of "unsolicited script" with a production company who you feel would be interested?

Apart from having your agent/manager submit the pilot, try to get it to the showrunner of a similar series or one that you admire. How do you get their name? Google and read as many industry articles on the show as possible. Plus check out IMDBPro for a listing of the show's staff.
Ailish show me your shorts.

Thanks Erik, I will look for the show runners, good idea!

I watched The Widow. I'm gonna be honest with you - brutally honest. Firstly, I love it. It's beautifully produced film with a delightful mellow rhythm and tone. It's well cast and choreographed - maybe a stop or two under shot. The conflict between the lead and the gatekeeper is good but could be pumped up a bit. It's a top-o-the-line Art film which unfortunately has a limited market appeal in the US (stronger in Europe). None the less, I'd be proud to run it on my Independent Filmmaker's Showcase tv program if you'd like. Just say the word. I'll not accept your invite because you're more than a hundred miles from me.
Thanks so much Doug, I really appreciate you watching it and the fact that you liked it is a bonus! It was well received at the Chicago Irish Film Festival but yes, most of the attention on it has been within Europe. I would love for it to be included in your Showcase TV program, once it's finished it's festival run later this year I will get in touch. Much appreciated :)

Pitch only to those companies that have policy of accepting unsolicited materials and are looking for stories that fit yours. A lot fewer are of them of course, but you can stumble upon some in UK.
Meantime grow network, meet people, get noticed....
Thanks Kiril!
