I'm an "wanna be writer" if I could stop procrastinating, with I think pretty good ideas that I need to stop working long enough to put on laptop! I even bought Final Draft and have yet to use it. I live in Chicago, but presently in Michigan taking care of my mom as long as my office allows us to work remote! Then back to Chitown! Looking for ideas on how to get started. Sometimes, I feel to old, over 50, but it has always been my dream! Wondering if there are agents that work with not-yet published over 50 people? Nice to meet everyone! Stay Safe!

It helps to write just a few minutes a day. A few minutes turns into an hour. I wrote my first feature screenplay in three months this way. It helps to do the dirty work of fleshing out your characters, outlining the story, and so on, first. I'm rambling. I'll stop. Nice to meet you!

I use movie soundtracks to get me in the zone. Since there are no lyrics, it doesn't distract me. And it really helps me concentrate.

I agree with Jessica. It's important to write on a regular basis, even if it's just for a few minutes. The more you do it, the easier it becomes. :) And I know that some people have started their career in the movie industry rather late in their life. So it's never too late. :)

Hi Kathy! Welcome! It think it's a wonderful time to be over 50 in the industry. And let me know if you have any writing questions at all -- I love helping new writers. Best wishes!
