New to writing screenplays and need a partner or a coach ..?

I have the story of a life time to tell .  The story has me so overwhelmed that I need some help . The story is huge ! Not sure if it fits a 2 hour movie ..? Or better off as a Netflix series ..? I’ve never written anything before in my life . The story I have is so overwhelming and True- America will be Shook.!.! I still am!! ..lol.. If someone could help me outline it I could keep on track and get it written. H-E-L-P..!? Thanx

The advice I would give every new writer. Is read a ton of screenplays. Simple scripts is a good place to start. Find your favourite film and read it.

Not only does this teach you the form a screenplay takes. As your skills improve you will begin to see the machine not the output. I play a guitar, I hear music completely different to my wife. She hears the experience. I hear the chord progression, the bend of a string to hear a different note. You will begin to see movie in that way. So be prepared to lose the love of film and develop a love of the craft.

There's tons of info on net, even some international writing guru's offer free interactive advice. (Ongoing blogs etc not just one off PDF's) Scott Myers, Linda Aronson, Jurgen Wolf and others. I wrote plays in 90's but then dropped out of the arts only to begin the ropes of screenwriting 2015. STILL learning even though been asked for advice on emotional scenes in otherwise well constructed thrillers and a few of my own scripts did okay. Up to offer help, 24/7 passion, I used to direct but covid shot projects in the foot.

London Screenwriters Festival is not just duration of weeks it’s live, stuff goes on all year in zoom. Mostly free too, such as Sunday Cafe with Bob Shultz for group mentoring. I have scripts from box office hits on PDF if any meet your genre.

Kim, I'd be happy to help.

Hi Kimberly. Feel free to come have a chat anytime.

Writing a screenplay can be overwhelming. You have this idea for a story, but not sure where to begin or how to get it written. Write the outline with the ending in mind. Then begin the first draft. Grab some yellow pads to begin writing out many notes that your Muse, is sharing with you about your story. When writing the first draft, get the story written out. Perhaps search and search as well as study the craft of screenwriting and how it gets made. This is your story, it's your baby. Own it.

Congrats Kimberly. Just follow the wisdom doled out here and keep writing!

This story is amazing..!! I attached a document here that I found on the FBI archives.. Keep in mind while reading it these important facts. 1.) My name is Kimberly.. 2.) My Uncle now my Dad I found out just recently, his Death Date being; NOVEMBER (12) TWELVE 1975 which fell on a WEDNESDAY. So all together the important words being, KIMBERLY, NOVEMBER, TWELVE & WEDNESDAY. You'll see what I'm talking about. The FBI document is from HENRY EPHRON whom is a US Navy Crypt Specialist trying to decode the Zodiac killer cyphers.

Christiane Lange

Kimberly Sturgell I looked at the document, but am not sure what you are getting at.

Kimberly Sturgell

To Christian Lange ... I have so much more then this as evidence on things ... I just don’t want to put it all on here as of yet . I think the document is enough to show you what I’ve found out after not knowing all my life . Here these pictures may help ... >> The pictures of her was the last thing I found in my research of all this .. I literally fell out of my seat when I saw her ! It was like looking in a mirror ..! >>

And .. more ..>>

Maybe these will help you with what I’m trying to say here ... ❤️

I would be happy to help. People gave you many good advises already, read scripts, find the ones close to your stile and the genre you want to write and read them with attention. learn the rules, make sure you have a good grasp of your story and someone who will be up to read what you write and give you head ups and lots of notes.

Doug Nelson

Wally Wu - burn that book. Blake did way more damage to the art of screenwriting than any other writer from before him or since.

I'll get back to it when I have more time.

Do a simple A to Z timeline. A)- John goes to the store. B) - John stands in line at cashier to buy donuts and Female Maxi-Pads. C) John sees a Ghost looking at him. D) the Ghost pulls out a gun and shoots at him. E) John wakes up in his car 5 minutes before he went into the store....DOT DOT DOT. Go from A-to-Z and just see what you get.

BTW-the way you described your story caused me some anxiety. Try to find the simple truth in your story. Tell that. Then try to find another simple truth in your original muse. Tell That. Finally, find another simple truth in the original muse. Write that. #EatTheElephantInSmallBites. Hope that helps.

Send me a message and we can chat! I think having writing partners to bounce ideas off of is so important when you are new to writing!

Maxwell Highsmith

Do an A-to-Z timeline. Think I said that but it bears repeating.
