Double good news!!!

I am delighted to share that my short film "Mela (Carnival)" has won "Prix du comédien" (Actor's award) in the 9th edition of Festival international du court-métrage Brèves d'Images; Occitania, France.

Kudos to the amazing kids, Yash Kanhere, Aditya Cholkar and Vansh Gandhi for winning the award. What makes it more special is that two of the three kids acted for the first time in the film. They had absolutely no prior experience of acting on screen. Congratulations to all three!

Also, in another news, The short film has been officially selected for The Paus Premieres Festival in which it will have a live and on-demand digital film screening in a virtual event. A festival whose previous screenings have featured stars such as Sir Ian McKellen, Russell Tovey, Conleth Hill, as well as receiving press coverage from Screen Daily, Business Insider, IBC daily.

The film will have an exclusive online 24-hour streaming experience directly on the festival's app, including insightful filmmaker Q&A, and screening event.

Karen "Kay" Ross

This is fantastic news, congratulations! Did you cast the new actors knowing it was their first time, or did you seek out first-time actors on purpose?

Pranjal Joshi

Thanks Karen "Kay" Ross The requirement was to work with children around age of 7-10 years. It was getting pretty difficult to find the child actors having the imagined look as well as a bit of on screen experience. So after some time I decided to rather go ahead with children with apt look but no on screen experience. Did a few workshops with them, rehearsals as well, yet it was going almost impossible to make them act. So I just allowed them to be their selves and shoot accordingly, guiding them in a very indirect and subtle manner.
