My favourite rejects:
1. "Is the alien mother knitting with tentacles supposed to be funny?"
2. "There were a lot of good things about this pitch. I was almost tempted to request it."
3. On submitting my comedy "Faceless" about drab bureaucrats the executive asked, "Why have you given a movie about an international organisation a horror movie title?"
Oh man, it seems like these totally missed the mark! Thanks for sharing Elaine! For the record, I think Faceless is a great title!
2. That seems a bit broad.
3. I agree with Jason - I love the title! It's more drama than horror, and it quickly gives you an image that those bureaucrats lose their identity as part of their jobs.
Thanks for sharing!

Ah rejection. I will pass on a piece of wisdom from my friend, Sam Gross, who did single panel cartoons for the New Yorker. The editor was surprised one day when Sam showed up with a cartoon that he had already rejected: "Sam, I have rejected this cartoon twice already." Sam without missing a beat said, "Yeah, that's right, and I'll keep submitting until you realize how good it is."

What a great thread. My favorite was my 3/10 on a pilot that was followed by all positive, complimentary written notes by the same reader.
