I'm putting this post in "screenwriting" but it applies to everything. I'll speak on this topic from my experience in the music industry (live sound, 2.5 yrs). In that time, I met some amazing musicians, supremely talented folk. Some of them were arrogant and rude, and I want to put it out there that you can be the best at whatever you do. If you're a writer, musician, artist, voice actor, you name it. You might be the best, but if you're an a$$hole, no one will want to work with you.
One band that came to perform at our venue was told by their manager that they had secured a spot on some publication's "Top Ten" list (upcoming). They came in with the attitude that they had "been discovered" and next year everyone would be talking about them. We were lucky they deigned to play here; next year, we would be telling all our friends and family about the time we got to put on a show with them. They were so rude, it's hard to describe without using harsh language.
Are you wondering what band this was? Me too. I totally forgot everything about them apart from their rudeness. They were a southern-outlaw-country-rock band with the word "Steel" in the title. (It wasn't Steel City Jug Slammers, they were "old-timey" and awesome.) I have never heard anything from or about them since. I don't think they got their big break because it was at least five years ago and I still haven't heard about them.
The moral: You could be the best in the world at what you do, but if you're rude or arrogant, you'll find yourself alone and apart. Your echoes will support you, but nobody else will.

What you say is true in any business and in life generally. Plus it's a small, small world. I have lived in several countries and many cities, and I am always amazed at how often I run into people who have some connection to one of my previous lives.

I agree. Kindness cost nothing. I was just watching a live with RB and Emily on Instagram and she literally said this. She handwrites thank you letters to everyone that was part of her projects when it ends. So always be kind. As RB said Put out more GOOD into the WORLD!

Great point. I feel it can be expanded to being humble and authentic. To be frank, a lot of very creepy people have the polite thing mastered. I've seen people on set grovel to those they feel are above them and then turn around and act like Harvey Weinstein to those they see as below them.
