Greetings, good folk of Stage32!
This October makes it exactly one year since I've been on the platform. I've spent most of that year on Stage32 just poking around, figuring out what button does what; basically 'scoping out de scene' as a Trinidadian would call it.
With that said, I thought I'd finally make my debut post here, in the Introduce Yourself Lounge (after repeatedly putting it off), and well...introduce myself!
I am a screenwriter from Trinidad and Tobago. Started in entertainment in 2014 as an events coordinator on the local party scene. Creating new themes for events always seemed to be my 'thing.'
As the magnitude of the events I worked on grew, so did my appetite to just create.
I studied Business Management at the University of the West Indies and in my final year, I somehow managed to write, produce and appear in a short film. (I needed to create a new product and the idea of using a short film to launch just hit me, so I took it and ran with it.)
In 2020, when the pandemic began, events came to a screeching halt. After some time in quarantine and replaying that short 1000x, I realized there must be something more I could do with film so I set out to 'handle a new scene.'
I collaborated on a few other shorts in different capacities but most notably, I played the lead of a death row prisoner in a YouTube edutainment short (link on profile).
Currently, I am working on my second feature screenplay and I look forward to connecting with like-minded creatives right here on Stage32!
