Hi everyone! I'm new here. I recently heard about Stage32 and I'm excited to poke around and see what's up. I am a suspense-thriller novelist wanting to learn about screenwriting. Does anyone have any suggestions for blogs, books, etc. to go to first? Any other suggestions for participating in this community? Thanks!

Pick your favorite movie - find the script for it online and read it. Learning the format is extremely important.

The Screenwriters Bible and Save The Cat are two very good resources. Robert also makes a great suggestion. Welcome to the community!

Jodi Burnett your Profile can be anything from a list of links and project summaries to novels, screenplays, titles and ratings,
loglines, synopses and even uploading entire screenplay PDFs for community to look at.
I have a thriller novel and three feature screenplays, Profile info and scripts on my page if you would like to look at it as a sample page.
Also you may enjoy checking out THE WRITERS' ROOM here on Stage 32!

Yes. You should check out The Mini Movie Method by Chris Soth. I believe it is only available via e-book, but I found it extremely helpful for story structure. What I like most is he gives actionable advice that you can actually use, instead of simply philosophizing what stories are.

I highly recommend a book called 'Save the Cat' by Blake Snyder. It really helped me understand structure, beats, the rules and what to do and avoid. Good luck!
