Personally, I think actors should NOT have to pay more for an IMDbPro membership than for a year of Amazon Prime. Years ago before Amazon bought IMDb, there was an "entry level" membership that was closer to $25/year that allowed you to curate your profile, add images, etc. Now, you have 2 choice: have zero control over your page, or pay WAY TOO MUCH just to add your photos/video/bio.
Now, IMDbPro does have some interesting tools, and so I'm curious if any of you use them? For instance, if you're targeting an agent or manager, you can look them up to see who they currently represent. That can give you helpful info as to whether or not you should submit to them.
But does anyone else use IMDbPro in their endeavors as an actor??? In other words, how do YOU justify the cost?
Hi, Matthew! I'm researching exactly the same! I was reading from time to time you can use IMDb to submit yourself for projects, but I think it's too expensive for some random casting call that could appear there... But I was wondering exactly the same thing. By the way, as an actor, have you ever heard of Hollywood and Casting Film? Have you ever used it or do you think Actor's Access and Casting Frontier is the way to go? Thanks a lot!

Gia Carol, I have not heard of Hollywood and Casting Film. From your other post, if there are some bad reviews, I would investigate those further. Be careful of scams.
Actors Access is the #1 trusted site in the US for tv/film. Here in the Southeast US, all the Casting Directors use it to send out auditions (through agents). Some post public casting calls (like Tyler Perry Studios), and you can find a lot of smaller, independent films that post through AA. We don't use Casting Frontier in Georgia, but I know it's more widely used in California.

Yes! Agree that the IMDb Pro is a tad pricey and I do not use it all the time. I tend to buy it for the month I need it, cancel, then renew when need it again. Good luck!
Cherelynn Baker maybe you can answer this for me, then. If you have media uploaded to your profile (photos/videos/bio), do they disappear when you cancel your subscription? Do they magically reappear when you pay again?
Agree!

Hi Matthew Cornwell as my sub is about to auto-renew, I'm possibly canceling. I just asked on the IMDb support forum, the same question about what happens after deactivating. Here's the agent's reply:
---------------------------
"When your IMDbPro Standard Subscription is completely cancelled, the following data will no longer be displayed on your IMDb and IMDbPro pages:
Images: Featured image customizations and photos uploaded via your IMDbPro membership
Demo reels: Primary video customizations and demo reels uploaded via your IMDbPro membership
Known for credits: Known For credit customizations will revert to the IMDb algorithm
Primary professions: Primary profession customizations will revert to the IMDb algorithm
----------- Part 2 ------------
If you choose to renew your IMDbPro Standard Subscription membership within 12 months of cancellation, the above information will be restored to your page within 24 hours.
The only data you will not be able to recover on on your IMDb and IMDbPro pages are:
IMDb page management: Your IMDb page will no longer be claimed and your connection between your membership and your page will be severed.
Page Controls: Any display preferences set via your IMDbPro membership will be removed
Self-verified information: Any additional information (including the Personal Details, Performer Profile, and Guild Affiliations) added via your IMDbPro membership
Additional Awards and Credits: Any self-verified awards or credits added via your IMDbPro membership
Vanity URL: Your set Vanity URL will no longer be functional"

Pete Haase thanks for that info! Good to know. And anyone who is deciding to sign up for IMDbPro, research possible discounts. SAG-AFTRA members, for instance, can easily get a discount that's about 30% off.

ImdbPro is a vital tool in doing your research. As an actor, you have to be vigilant on market trends, relationships between studios, casting directors who work with directors consistently, location of productions... think of it more as a research tool instead of a marketing tool when it comes to your career as an actor.
