The same 10 pages but different outcomes

I decided to send my script to two different readers for a First 10 pages analysis. Was curious if there would be any consensus. Well, there was and there wasn't. Both readers gave the script 4s in each category, Each gave me good suggestions for improvement. One gave me and the script a Recommend. The other a Pass.

This sounds like a great idea, Michael. Congrats on the Recommends.

The goal is to gain insight and guidance. If I cared only about approval, I'd show my work to only family members.

Hi, Marie. Welcome.

Molly Peck

Hi Michael, I think this is valuable for other writers to see. It's always down to personal opinion in the end when your writing has reached a professional level - keep up the great work, and congrats on the Recommend!

I had just re-written the 1st Act so I was looking for pro feedback. Even though one of the execs gave it a "Pass" he gave it 4s across the board. That and the additional insight is helpful.

Just peoples opinion's. Ive had some scripts rate average, but then other readers or friends who are paid screenwriters/readers/novelists would say its a stand out script. So I dont really consider one opinion to have too much weight. Get the opinions of a few other professional writers and go off the consensus.

Definitely different reviewers will have different opinions. Take comments that you feel are useful and incorporate them. Really it's no different than what happens in the studio system. Many scripts have been rejected by one studio and gone to find success with another one. You just has to make your script as good as possible. Even if you produce your script yourself your film will be subjected to other's opinions. That's just how the business works. At some point you reach a level where script coverage is no longer needed. But even then you're going to be getting notes. So does it ever really end?
