Introduce Yourself : New in the business by Iustina Ciobanu

Iustina Ciobanu

New in the business

Hi everyone! I'm Iustina (yeah, I know, with an "I", not "L"). I've been here for a while but never got the chance to introduce myself.

Honestly, I wouldn't say I like to talk about myself, mainly because there is not much I can tell.

Recently, I finished my first feature, and now I feel a bit lost. Weird, right?

I'm here to learn as much as I can and connect with as many as possible amazing people.

Have a lovely week!

Cara Rogers

Iustina have you gotten coverage yet? That's always my next step, even if only to get an extra pair of eyes to catch typos. Also, if you're looking to connect with people try The Writers' Room free month membership. The lounge includes links to join smaller groups in writing sprints (all Zoom together, check in, camera off and write), table reads, etc. And congrats on finishing that first script!!!

Iustina Ciobanu

Hi Cara! Thank you for the tip. I've been thinking of joining The Writer's Room for a while.

About the coverage, well, all I got is the proofreading, as, unfortunately, I can't afford much now. I'll work on my next screenplay and try to save some money in the meantime.

Cherelynn Baker

Thank you, Cherelynn!

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Iustina Ciobanu. Pleasure to meet you. Congratulations on finishing your first feature script. What's your plan for it?

Sam Sokolow

Congraulations on finishing your first script, Iustina! What a fabulous accomplishment. Please let me know if I can be of any help on your journey.

Tony Pham

Hi Iustina! A warm welcome to you! I think you're in right spot to start connecting with different people on here. I mean, I'm no different, so I'm basically doing the same thing.

Iustina Ciobanu

Hi, Maurice Vaughan! Thank you! To answer your question, I would love to see it on a screen someday, so I'll probably do my best to find someone interested. I know the journey will be long, and there is a small chance for that to happen, but one can only hope.

Iustina Ciobanu

Thank you, Sam Sokolow! It means a lot

Iustina Ciobanu

Hi, Tony Pham! Thank you! Nice to meet you.

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Iustina Ciobanu. Since you've finished your first script, it's a great idea to work on another to build a portfolio.

Shellie Schmals

Congratulations!! Finishing your first feature is a huge accomplishment! Are you going the festival route?

Iustina Ciobanu

Thank you, Shellie! I've participated in a couple of festivals since I started the screenplay, first with my synopsis; then with my whole script.

Sheryl Denise

Hi Iustina Ciobanu! It's great to meet you! I understand that post-completion mode that you mentioned. It feels weird but I believe it's very common. You finished what you started and that is both amazing and admirable!!! You've poured yourself out into a particular cup until it reached overflowing. The cup got what it needed...now you just need a new cup. :-) Here's to the next cup, I mean project lol, and the next. And the next! Best, ---Sheryl Denise http://www.SherylDenise.com

Iustina Ciobanu

Thank you, Sheryl Denise!

You are very welcome Iustina Ciobanu!

Karmelina Moore

Start putting your pitch deck together! Congratulate yourself then keep on going!

Iustina Ciobanu

Thank you for your advice, Karmelina Moore! I'll do that.

Karmelina Moore

@lustina ciobanu Make sure to reward yourself on every success along the way.

DAvid Rorie

is your name really lustina?

Iustina Ciobanu

Hi, DAvid Rorie. Yes, that's my name.

John Ellis

Write another screenplay. Then another and another and another. The 5th or 6th one you finish might be good enough to start pitching to your network of industry friends.

No industry friends? Get on set - volunteer, be professional, give more than take - and you'll start making those friends.

Three years from now you'll be on your 6th script (this is an approximation; depends on your specific situation), and will have several friends of whom you can ask to read it.

BTW, this is for a career in screenwriting, not a one-off sale.

Cherelynn Baker

Welcome to Stage 32 Iustina! Is that pronounced (ewe-steena?" ...ok...next steps for you to consider: is the goal to finish? Or to publish? Or to sell? Or to partner to see it through to production? If/when the screenplay goes into a contract for production - where is your end distribution goal? You get to choose, where and how you feel the "finish" line is for you! Enjoy the platform! Iustina Ciobanu glad you are here!

Evelyn Warnitz

Congratulations on your first feature, Iustina! It's a wonderful place here. You will see.

Iustina Ciobanu

Thank you for this valuable advice, John Ellis! I'll do my best. A career in screenwriting would be a dream come true.

Iustina Ciobanu

Thank you, Cherelynn Baker! You can try to pronounce it this way - Yousteena, if it makes sense. And thank you so much for your advice!

Iustina Ciobanu

Thank you so much, Evelyn von Warnitz!

Shadow Dragu-Mihai

Welcome here Iustina! What is your feature about?

Iustina Ciobanu

Thank you so much, Shadow Dragu-Mihai! My feature is a fantasy/adventure about a writer who ends up in the world he is "creating" - Glasstium - the home of the Timekeeper, where he faces many dangers while trying to make it back home.

Maurice Vaughan

Your script sounds exciting and unique, Iustina!

Iustina Ciobanu

Thank you, Maurice Vaughan! It is nice to know you find it this way.
