Screenwriting : Pitching by Steven M. Cross

Pitching

I use one of those sites where you get leads from producers and then pitch to them. I read a lead, and the producer wanted the usual, synopsis, logline and so on, but he also requested a pitch, one that is recorded. It wasn't live which is a whole new ballgame. I've done written pitches; some have gotten reads. Some have not. My question is what should we put in a recorded pitch? I did a simple few minute sales pitch and gave some background information. Just me in front of the camera talking. I didn't do anything fancy, no quick cuts, montages, and highlight reels. Do you think this is okay or do you think as my southeastern Missouri family says, I should have "Gussied it up."

Funny how I personally observe surroundings relevant to a story with highlights whereas online seems more like story without personality. I dislike the non in-person mixers, meet & greet. An in person "pitch" without reactivity seems so non-storied. I'm a storyteller in real moving time so I can relate.

If you have a chance to pitch on video -- you should show some habilities as a filmmaker and storyteller. I can help you in the edit!
