Introduce Yourself : Hello fellow UK writers? by Nate Rymer

Nate Rymer

Hello fellow UK writers?

Hi everyone, I'm Nathan, writing under penname Nate. I'm based in North-West UK, mainly Wirral and Liverpool, and currently doing my best NOT to procrastinate from writing my own features and TV pilots, while looking to build experience in trainee opportunities - I'm particularly interested in script editing, co-ordination and development. Any fellow aspiring UK writers who love slow-burn horror-drama, low sci-fi and/or walking talking animals = feel free to connect, would love to hear from you!

Hey, Nate Rymer. How's it going? I didn't like slow-burn before, but I'm starting to like it more now. What's low Sci-Fi? One of my favorite talking animal movies is "Charlotte's Web."

Nate Rymer

Hi Maurice! Low sci-fi is basically science-fiction where characters, themes and philosophical conflict are placed at the forefront of a narrative, with typically minimal / minimalist elements of sci-fi in the background helping to serve the story. A good example would be 'Arrival' - an alien invasion, where the focus isn't on bombastic action, but on the discovery and interpretation of language and how this affects humankind's predisposition to war and conflict when faced with 'the other' (in this case, an alien race who may be a threat or peaceful).

Hi Nate, also from the UK (Midlands), writing alongside my full-time job and a mix of books and screenplays. Only really startng out with my journey to transition to using my creativity full-time and still looking to master my craft. Best of luck mate.

Maurice Vaughan

Ok, I see, Nate Rymer. Low Sci-Fi is great for micro-budget and low-budget movies then. Thanks for letting me know.

Nate Rymer

Hi Tobey, thanks for the reply - best of luck to you too, mate!

Nate Rymer

No worries Maurice, glad to help!

Mark Giacomin

Hi Nate, thanks for taking time out of your schedule to rate my loglines. Will aim to return the favour this week when I can think straight. Spent a fair amount of a long weekend drinking big cups of coffee and working on a rewrite, back to my paying job today and I'm shattered!

Wendy Appelbaum

Yes Nate - thanks so much - greatly appreciated!
