Name a film that is better than the book ...

Hey Producers,

Starting the week off with something silly, but true.

In some rare occasions, the film is better than the book.

Please comment your film that is better than the book. I'll go first - LOTR. I'm a rabid fan of the J.R.R. Tolkien books BUT I think ALL of the films, are better than the books! Peter Jackson grabbed the vision and ran with it!

Ok - now it's your turn!

Simon Foster

Bladerunner.

Cherelynn Baker

Simon Foster That would be my second pick! Have you seen the interview with Harrison Ford saying he had conversation with Ridley Scott where they debated if Deckard was a replicant? Agreed in this pick!

Simon Foster

No - but I remember reading a copy of an early interview with Ridley Scott from 1982 in which he said that he always intended Deckard to be a replicant.

Steven Hopstaken

Re-reading "Jaws." The movie is definitely better than the book.

Cherelynn Baker

Steven Hopstaken - agreed - Jaws is better as a movie because of that shark!

Amman Mohammed

Quite a unique notion - a film that is better than the book All of Ian's Flemings Bond books published in the 50s and 60's might fall in this category. Especially FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE.

Amanda Toney

I love this adaptation question Cherelynn Baker - it's the hardest thing for a producer to take a beloved book and adapt to screen. That said, recently I read YOU, and I felt Netflix's television show adaptation was better than the book. And, I have to shout out my Stage 32 educator Amanda Johnson Zetterstrom who wrote/produced the show and also taught a mock writers' room here on Stage 32 :)

Mohamed K. Tobaigi

Rear Window is a 1954 American mystery thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock and written by John Michael Hayes based on Cornell Woolrich's 1942 short story "It Had to Be Murder".

Donte Burks

I would definitely agree that the LOTR films were better than the books. Hell I never made it through the hobbit as it took about 8 pages to describe the Shire. Whoa! Who needs 8 pages to describe the shire? LOL!! It was just a bit over descriptive for me.

Ryan Christiansen

Love Lord Of The Rings movies! Back in High Scool if there were any books I had to read and they were made into movies I'd always watch the movie instead! Lol :)

Richard Buzzell

A friend of mine once suggested that "Under the Volcano" was better as a movie than as a book. Wrong!
