I’m a WGAW full time screenwriter who has had the most success in features, but loves writing both TV and feature screenplays. I write a lot of action, sci-fi, horror, and female driven scripts in those genres. My first big sale was to STX, the female driven action revenge feature, Red Widow, which also got on the 2016 Hit List. I’ve set up various projects at Relativity, Solstice Studios, Lionsgate/Summit, Alloy entertainment, and I have a TV pilot produced by the Komack company going out later this year. Nice to meet you as well Matthew. As a veteran writer in the trenches did you learn most about writing by doing it or undertaking courses or both? Have you considered producing at all?

Hi Gerry— I’d say I learned the most about writing by doing, though I’ve definitely taken courses and read a ton of screenplays too, which has all helped develop my writing. Considered producing, and I have some interest in it, but I’m one of the weird writers who actually enjoy writing and the process (not just having written something), so I remain focused on that. Never had any interest in directing either.
