Screenwriting : Long time no post... by James Welday

James Welday

Long time no post...

Happy Friday, everyone! It's been a hot minute since I posted here. I hope everyone is enjoying a creative and fulfilling day so far. I've been busy finishing my animated fantasy feature script for readers, while also prepping a new WIP, something a little closer to home.

What are the new and exciting projects fueling your creativity lately? I'm happy to jump back in!

Maurice Vaughan

How's it going, James Welday?! Great to see you posting again. An animated Fantasy script sounds cool. I have two new writing jobs, I'm rewriting a short script with a writer/director, and I'm pitching projects.

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Real Deal"

James: Thanks for posting your recent activities. What is your story about? Comedy animation? Hero's journey?

I'm starting a new screenplay next week for a novel adaptation of a novel written by a UK writer. It's a thriller set in Thailand.

James Welday

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Real Deal" that's great, and best of luck on the new adaptation!

Here is the rough logline for mine: "Magician & Son"

Santiago is a non-believing son and assistant to Manuel the Magnificent, a once-famous Barcelonaian stage magician. When his father mysteriously disappears within his own illusion, it's up to a hesitant Santiago to enter the one dreaded place he may have gone -- the mythic, chaotic landscape of the Magician's World."

James Welday

Maurice Vaughan thank you, sir! It's good to be back! I'm excited to see how your writing jobs go. Hoping against hope to land some work soon.

Maurice Vaughan

Congrats on the adaptation, Phillip E. Hardy, "The Real Deal"! A Thriller set in Thailand sounds... thrilling. :)

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, James Welday. Most of my past and present jobs and projects come through Stage 32. I mainly get them by networking/building relationships and maintaining relationships.

James Welday

Maurice Vaughan regarding networking and building/maintaining relationships, that is absolutely true! A continued best of luck to you.

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Real Deal"

James, thanks for sharing your logline.

Maurice Vaughan

I appreciate it, James Welday. Much success to you. Hope you get great feedback on your script and sell it.

James Welday Hi James, my creative energies are focused on two things right now. The Pitch Deck for my apocalyptic conspiracy thriller and on world-building for a mythological epic story.

Dan Guardino

I have been polishing some of my older screenplays that I think are worth polishing and working on a screenplay for hire.

Matthew Parvin

Welcome back, James! I'm working through my next spec script. I'm also meeting with directors concerning my last script and working with an agency (who I met through Stage 32) about possible financing. All in all, pretty exciting!

Kiril Maksimoski

Could be busy as hell or counting stars in just one "yes or no" email back...welcome to the screenwriters life...

Teleah Moore

I recently jumped into songwriting. It's currently being produced in the studio. I'm so excited!

Dan Guardino

Teleah Moore. Congrats. That is pretty cool. A friend of mine started a band that had some hit records. One of his songs has in Pulp Fiction and Tarantino helped him produce his first movie Narc. I helped cowrite the sequel but it didn’t get made. Anyway, good luck with your songwriting.

Morgan Aitken

Hiya @james - bloody Android version doesn't seem to do mentions - anyway, I'm busy rebuilding my stage 32 account and presence after a major relocation and tragic system upgrade disaster. There seem to be improvements afoot around here. Maybe I'll stick around this time. Hope you do to. BTW it's the former Meg Stone. Aye, going by Morgan now. Animated fantasy script? Brill! I'd love to lay eyeballs on it.

Teleah Moore

Dan Guardino Thank you!

Maurice Vaughan

Hope things get better, Morgan Aitken ("tragic system upgrade disaster"). See you around Stage 32. :)

Doug Nelson

Teleah - all I produce now are promo music videos to help new musicians & songwriters promote their work out here in the West. I have an old time Rock & Roll band (tough to work with), I have a Country guitar player & singer (one cd released) and I have a really strong harmonica player (one cd released). I'm starting to work with a Country Western band, a Bluegrass band and a female singer. What 'cha got?

James Welday

@morgan so sorry to hear about your tech issues, hopefully they’re resolved now. I’d be happy to send the script (rough as it is) your way. Let me know!

James Welday

You guys are awesome, and inspiring, each and every one of you. Keep up the amazing work, and Happy Sunday!

Maurice Vaughan

Does "tragic system upgrade disaster" mean tech issues, Morgan Aitken. I thought it meant something else. I saw "tragic" and "disaster" and thought something tragic happened to you. Facepalm One of those days. Haha

Morgan Aitken

Maurice Vaughan this is tragic!!! Unpalm that face, immediately! Do you have any idea how much work it's going to be to reimplement rebuild my Stage 32 profile... and don't forget my esteemed and charming reputation. BTW, you were in my network... you'll see my new request waiting for you to approve. Cheers, mate!

James Welday

Teleah Moore congratulations, and best of luck! Keep us posted.

Jim Boston

James Welday, it's so doggone nice to hear from you again! Wishing you all the VERY BEST!

James Welday

Thank you, Jim!! Much appreciated. If you need anything, let me know.

Maurice Vaughan

It sounds like a lot of work, Morgan Aitken, but I'm sure you'll get it done. :) BTW, I accepted your request.

James Welday

Stephanie Madison absolutely, thanks! I'm excited to jump back into networking, while polishing the animated feature and the new WIP.
