Introduce Yourself : In A Different Place by Naomi Kuagben

In A Different Place

Hello Lovely People,

I am an all round artist who has worked as a film supporting artist for almost 10 years. I am usually a positive person but am looking for inspiration and support whilst in a different place this time. I apologise in advance if this is triggering to anyone or if I shouldn't be writing about this sort of thing here.

My beloved mother died in September. I was her carer and she was my best friend. I am devastated , completely emotionally and financially vulnerable and work has been a source of respite from this.

Unfortunately my landlord has chosen to do a catastrophic rent increase in order to make the home I have lived in all my life unaffordable. So I have a fight. I continue to take any film and tv work that comes my way but am open to new opportunities and ideas.

So I have come here again, looking for inspiration.

Thank you for reading,

Naomi Kuagben

Hi Naomi Kuagben, firstly my sincere condolences for your mother, and hope everything works out for you. As well as an author, I’m also an extra, supporting artist, which I love and also live in London. If you wish, message me and I can give you names of casting agents you may not be with. Anytime. Also, great to see you on this fantastic platform.

Condolences & blessings to you, Naomi Kuagben. It's good to meet you & I hope you don't mind prayers being sent up for you. Regarding inspiration, write a story based on your mother & include your current situation. Write notes on everything while it's happening, so you get the raw details you can better sculpt later. Peace to you, Naomi.

My Condolences and God bless you Naomi Kuagben, nice to meet you, keep pushing, never give up.

Leoni Amandin

Hi Naomi, That’s devastating, and grief is such a horrible thing. I can not offer much advice other than I have a friend who lost all her creative work at the beginning of covid, gave up on her creative career completely, moved into full-time work, went through a rough time, was mentally very unwell, changed job a couple of times and eventually found an alright job, now bought a flat, is in much better financial and mental shape and considering moving back into the entertainment industry. Sometimes it’s good to take a year out and have stability and then come back stronger!

Naomi I am so sorry for your loss. Light to you during this especially difficult time.

I'm glad your friend is doing better, Leoni Amandin.

Hi Leoni Amandin, great advise, its easy to move off grid, but it takes courage to come back, it took me three years and half to start finding my way back, not yet on full potential again. I recommend fighting with in or just having a side job, but not going off grid.
