Hi Everyone,
I'm a Composer/Sound Designer/Mixer in Los Angeles. I'm currently working on 3 films. One is a feature and the other 2 are shorts. I'm always busy but always available. If you need help with anything Post Audio related, feel free to reach out. Even if it's just questions about the process. Thanks!

Hi Nathan! Congrats on all your films, that's fantastic. Are you composing/sound designing/mixing all three? We'd love to have you share some of your wisdom over in the composing lounge!

Welcome to the community, Nathan Daniel. Are there certain movies you like to compose music for the most?

Joanna Karselis - I'm composing for one but the sound design, foley and mixing are for all 3. I'll head over to the composing lounge! Still getting used to this website.

Maurice Vaughan - Anything that requires intense, dreadful, suspenseful type of music. :)

Nathan Daniel intense, dreadful, suspenseful music? Yes please! I just had a look on your profile and couldn't see any links to your work- is there anywhere we can check your work out?
Ah the lounges take a bit of getting used to! Drop Maurice or I a message if you'd like some help getting the hang of them. I for one would love to hear about how you approach doing sound design/foley alongside composing. Or literally any conversation starters/insights around any part of the sound/music process- it's all good stuff!

Joanna Karselis Oh yeah. Here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KTNNen0Iyw
Not all of it is dark. There are a few different types tracks in there. I tried to have a little of every type of vibe that I write in there. Each sample is about 30 seconds long and there are chapters in the description to skip around if you want. I will say that lately all I have been writing is stuff similar to the Ozark tv show. Minimal and dark. I love what Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans do.
Thanks for the lounge help. Maybe I can share a recent sound re-design thing I did and talk about how I did it.

Thanks Nathan Daniel! Just had a listen whilst working through some admin and wow, what a great reel. You've really got some nice moods and feels in there (are you using Damage 2 for those lovely big beats?) Off to have a good listen to Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans now, they're not composers I'm familiar with but minimal and dark is always good. Do you know Ben Sailsbury and Geoff Barrow? They're another dark, minimal-ish composer duo.
Oh a post on your recent sound re-design would be fantastic! What a great idea. Would love to hear about your experiences working on that.

Joanna Karselis Awe thanks! That means a lot. I have Damage 2 but 99% of my drum tracks I create in PercX and XO. OOh...I haven't heard Ben Sailsbury and Geoff Barrow. or maybe I have heard there stuff but didn't know it was them. I'll check them out, thanks!
IMO, Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans best stuff was Ozark and The Outsider shows. You should be able to find some of those tracks on youtube.
I checked out your "Bourne Ultimatum" sound re-design/re-score, Nathan Daniel. Really intense! I subscribed to your YouTube channel so I can listen to more.

Nathan Daniel That's cool about PercX/XO, not heard of them but they sound fantastic in your work and from a quick flick through online they look more flexible than Damage 2... might have to put them on the black Friday list! Been listening to the Ozark OST and it's fantastic so thanks for flagging Bensi/Jurriaans up. You might know Sailsbury/Barrow already from Deus Ex, Annihilation, Men, or my personal favourite, Devs.
What subjects will you be covering in your official Youtube show?

Joanna Karselis I've never seen any of those although Men is on my list as that looks really good. I'll check out the others too! I'd suggest watching the Ozark show as the music sound so much better in context with the show.
For youtube I just want to share the knowledge I've collected over the years about music, post, and mixing. Also maybe have some interviews with some friends of mine in the industry.

Nathan Daniel man, Ozark has been on my watch list forever! Maybe now winter is drawing in over here I'll make some time for it. Let me know what you think of the films when you've had a chance to check them out.
Sounds like a great channel, I'd subscribe! :)

Hey!
Where can I watch your films once they are out?

Raneisha Marsdon Good question. I won't have that info until I'm done. Most stuff I do are independent films where the directors are trying to hit the festival circuits. I kinda lost track what happens after that because I'm usually back to work. The last film I saw that I worked on was playing at the Chinese Theatre here in LA for the AFI festival a few weeks back.
