After many years spent getting my 9-5 situation stable, I'm finally thinking of making the plunge back into this platform. I love writing, telling stories, and photography... so why wait to get down and dirty with it? Why not bring those three things together! Can you tell I'm pumped up? LOL
Anyway. I've got a number of ideas and I don't know which one to pursue first. I don't know if I should focus on something small and short that might have a chance of seeing the screen in my local community, or what...? I have some big ideas, small ideas, and some vignettes of ideas peppered here and there throughout my various notebooks I've kept.
How do y'all go about picking something? How do you focus in on it, especially if it's been sitting in a notebook for a while? Some of my ideas I can easily see being a film, or mini-series, on a streaming service. While others I can envision on a really nice YouTube channel (or Short of the Week).

Welcome back, John David Antesberger III.
I think focusing on a micro-budget Contained script is smart because you have more producers, production companies, etc. to pitch to. I pick ideas for the same reason. I also pick an idea because it's unique or it's a fresh spin on a story.
A short script, a YouTube channel short script, or a Short of the Week are also smart because they wouldn't cost much for a producer or production company to film, and you could add the short to your portfolio.

Thanks for the advice, Maurice Vaughan. I will, for sure, take this to heart.

Welcome Back John David Antesberger III! So happy to have you here. You seem to have the problem I struggle with often referred to as spoiled with choice. Lol. Sometimes I just have to make a list and randomly choose one so I don't get caught up it the choice itself.
