Hello! This is my first time posting with Stage 32 but it already seems so positive and uplifting! Two years ago I got my BAS in Digital Filmmaking only to find out that it’s impossible to break into the industry without a solid reel or a solid crew.
I’m currently working as a videographer to make ends meet. I spend my spare time watching movies or working on my screenplays! I have one apocalyptic thriller feature film (working on the 3rd draft), several comedic short films, and I’m also working on a “Realistic Superhero” episodic. (I’ve currently only got a Pilot and a map of the other 7 episodes.)
My goal is to break into the Film Festival scene, get notices for my writing, find a quality agent, and sell these screenplays!
I love film, I love the creative process, and I’d happily write until my fingers gave way and my mind turned to mush.

I love your spirit, Jacob. Welcome to the community! We have heard all the time that film school drops you off at the curb, but luckily you’ve found your community right here! For your superhero episodic, I just sold a TV show to a mini-major studio and if I can give some advice, you just need the pilot and the 1st season map, and an idea of 3 seasons of where it will go. Your next step should be to write your TV pitch bible - we have some awesome webinars on how to do that, here’s one I’d recommend: https://www.stage32.com/webinars/Write-Your-Professional-Pitch-Bible Excited to see your career take off here on Stage 32!

Welcome to Stage 32, Jacob Martin. You're in the right place to reach your goals. A “Realistic Superhero” episodic show sounds exciting. Kinda like a show version of "Super"?

Amanda Toney Thank you for the encouragement and direction! I'll definitely check that out!
Maurice Vaughan I LOVE movies like "Super" and "Kick Ass" however, that's not quite what I meant by the term "realistic". I wanted to see what would happen if super powers were introduced in OUR world. In other words, there are real world consequences and humans are still human. Just as the invention of cars also enabled car accidents, humans gaining super powers would create super accidents. The issues of today would simply be heightened to the max. So politics, religion, death, physics, etc. all still exit. It would be much closer to "The Boys" or "Invincible".

Hey Jacob! I just started here as well and it seems like our paths are quite similar as I am also working as a videographer to make ends meet. I know the struggle all too well and I can't wait to see what you do. :)
