Short Doc in the making

Hello all, my day job is a creative director for our animation studio BIEN. My night job right now, however, is an EP on a short documentary that our studio is producing with a self-imposed deadline of September. Look forward to learn from the community.

Welcome to the community, Hung Le ! There are tons of learning opportunities here, both from the people in the community and the great webinars, classes, and more! https://www.stage32.com/classes

Hi Hung! Welcome to the Stage 32 community!

You should definitely check out our Producing and Animation Lounges where you can join discussions with other producers or animation-focused creators, pose questions that you may have, update the community about your projects, and share news/announcements that interest you. It's a great way to connect with people from all around the world!

You can find both lounges through the toolbar at the top of your browser window. Simply click on "Lounge", which will direct you to a new page listing all of the current lounges available to you.

Hung Le

Thank you so much for the tips! Look forward to all.

Maurice Vaughan

Welcome to the community, Hung Le. Is a director and creative director similar?

GiGi Raines

Welcome Hung! Would love to know more about your documentary!

Hung Le

Maurice Vaughan A creative director is like a director but for commercial animation projects. A director typically works on one project from start to finish. A creative director works on high-level creative and strategy of multiple projects and have dedicated art directors to lead each.

Hung Le

Gigi Raines - we are working on a short doc about a quadriplegic sound designer.

Maurice Vaughan

Ok, cool, Hung Le. Thanks for explaining! Have you worked on Stop-motion Animation?

DeWayne Adcock

Nice to meet you, Hung!

Hung Le

Maurice - Stop-motion is a very specialized field for experts. We do general 2d, 3d, and cel animation.

Maurice Vaughan

Cool, Hung Le. 3D and Stop-motion are my favorite Animation styles. What's Cel Animation?

Sam Sokolow

Hi Hung - it’s great to meet you here in the community. Stage 32 recently brought in an award winning shirt filmmaker for a webinar on how to produce a great short film. Sharing a link so you can check it out: https://www.stage32.com/webinars/How-To-Avoid-Pitfalls-As-A-Short-Film-F...

Hung Le

Maurice Vaughan cel animation is frame-by-frame animation in the same way traditional Disney animation was made on celluloid sheets but nowadays we make it with Adobe Animate, Toon Boom, TV Paint

Geoff Hall

Hung Le Welcome! It’s great to see you here on Stage32’s IYW.

Maurice Vaughan

I looked up celluloid sheets, Hung Le. I remember seeing those growing up! I used to draw before I started writing, mainly cartoons. I passed the Art Instruction Schools' test (the drawing test with the Tippy the Turtle, The Pirate, and Tiny the Mouse drawings), but I ended up not taking the course.

Billy Kwack

Hi Hung, do you have any work I can see?

Hung Le

You can find us at thisisbien.com and Instagram/thisisbien

Maurice Vaughan

The pop-up art on the Works page is amazing, Hung Le! Terrific idea! Really creative! :D

Billy Kwack
