Screenwriting : Please Help by Kevin Hager

Please Help

Hello. I have Spec Scripts and screenplays of what I know can be good movies. I even have ideas for TV, and even business ideas for companies like Disney. I would like to Collab with others to make them into scripts and sell them. In fact some of my ideas for Disney is for revivals of their previous programming American Dragon: Jake Long, and So Weird, even for the High School Musical franchise such as High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

So please, I ask for help, I have written many things, some are good, some are just practice and an experiment, but I just need help in getting them out there.

Thank you for your time.

Kevin, try to upload your profile photo first. Cheers, Rutger

I am a private person, and I think this adds mystery of a person behind the curtain.

I just don't want to show my face. So if I have to I will use something else, or can't I just be trusted?

Rutger Oosterhoff

If you want, show something else

I will see what can be done.

I had this dream where, Ricky Bowen of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series was covering Nini Salazar-Roberts like you would in a fire, then they were sitting down watching emergency lights go by, so I think they had witnessed a crime or encountered criminals and Ricky was protecting Nini. Gave me inspiration for a storyline where Ricky finds out something bad is happening to Nini so he goes to California to help her. It would be a very special episode, and I have written a few things to detail how that would go.

You have one buyer, you dont own tv rights, and no show biz track record.

Hey, Kevin Hager. I agree with what others said about adding a profile picture. It'll help you network, and you'll show up when someone searches for you on here. You can use something related to the film industry or TV industry if you don't wanna use your picture. Examples: TV screen, movie camera, typewriter.

Pitching your work and ideas to Disney isn't impossible, but it'll be difficult. I suggest looking for other companies to pitch to. Independent production companies. That'll be easier than pitching to Disney. Then once you get established as a writer (option scripts, sell scripts, get an agent, etc.), you could pitch to Disney.

Kevin Hager It's nice to meet you and I think it's great that you want to collab with others. I can also see where others have suggested adding a profile pic. I checked your profile so I do understand what you battle and I sympathize with you in not wanting to add one. Thing is that it's not only S32 policy but it also benefits you in being able to be found by others. Some have added a silhouette or an illustration. As far as the ideas go, I would encourage you to create proprietary work and not something that you don't own the rights for. You have the passion. You got this.

As others have said, you're best working on your own unique material. Sure, have a spec episode for a current TV show in your portfolio but don't just depend on writing those. You need to show off your ability to cultivate an idea from scratch. If you aim to break into a creative industry, you must be creative.

The big problem is, if you write something using somebody else's IP then the only people you can show you that to are the people who own that IP. Agents, managers, other producers, etc. will not read it because they can't use it and they can't sell it.

Kevin Hager So, I'm not trying to be rude or anything like that, but a collaborative agreement, at the end of the day is a business deal and the last thing you want in business is any thing that adds mystery to your partner.

BRAVO, DAN MAXXX! I swear this guy is like, the "Dr. Phil" of Stage 32. Just plain, simple, logical, good advice! : )

As Max M said plus the odds are good they wouldn't even want to read your screenplay. If you want to collaborate try finding someone who might bring more to the table so you can get your screenplays read.

The picture is of my dog. I am a dog person. So will someone please help me further? This is my dream, and I am trying to do this for her, and my other dogs who have passed, and late grandparents.

HI Kevin! Thanks for sharing! Spec scripts can be a great place to start. Michael Schulman just wrote an incredible blog about this process. I put the link to the blog below. You can also meet with him for a script read or career consultation. If that interests you feel free to write us at success@stage32.com!
