Greetings. For those of you who are interested in Super 8, you may have wondered what it looks like when you shoot ultraviolet or black light with it. My crew experimented a bit on my last film shoot and this is the result. We also attached a mirror to the camera and used a dolly. If you also want to do something psychedelic without CGI, then this might be an inspiration for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nVFRKUSnAU&ab_channel=UlrichGoetz

Waw! It's a pretty interesting effect! How did you think of this?
Thanks, Luís. I wanted to do something similar to the psychedelic journey through space in Kubrick's "2001 - A Space Odyssey" on a low budget basis. Working with liquids would have been too complicated for us. So we made some platonic solids out of cardboard and foil and experimented with light. The idea of using a mirror came to us when we were looking for a way to create symmetry.
What? This is cardboard and foil? That's crazy!
Are you making experiments for a specific project?

It was intended for a time travel sequence in my last short film. In the end we used another shot without black light and partly edited it digitally in postpro. You can see the result here from minute 5:53. ;-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjxsRyep3Q4&ab_channel=UlrichGoetz

Who made the soundtrack?

The film score was composed by Bartosz Bludau. It was a very satisfying collaboration.

Glad you like it. :-) The whole film is a homage to the so-called "Bahnhofskino". In the 1970s there were cinemas in Germany near the train stations that showed B and C movies (similar to the American "Mondo" film). I tried to capture this style.
